Vincent Price’s Classy Wine Party

I’ve been waiting to share this for a very long time. It has been a source of great entertainment from the first moment I heard it. Passed along to me by my great friend, Wyatt Doyle , Vincent Price: “Wine is Elegance” sets the standard for classy dinner parties. If you’re a horror fan like me, you can’t help but imagine Mr. Price entertaining friends in an old Gothic castle surrounded by flickering candles and…let’s say bats.

All I know about this gem is that it was recorded in 1977 in co-operation with the California Wine Institute. I’m sure there was a time when it was harder to know how to pick a good wine and what to serve with it. The California Wine Institute probably thought getting Vincent Price to educate budding wine drinkers was a stroke of marketing genius.

Yes, it’s corny by today’s standards but I’ll be damned if it doesn’t seem like the perfect dinner party to me. A horror icon, some delicious port, maybe a fascinating anecdote or two about The Raven or The Last Man on Earth.

Pass the cheese!
