Sorry that my Film Picks of the Week are going to get progressively shorter. I’m about to get jump headfirst back into work so I’ll just pop in weekly to let you good folks know that I saw something awesome you should check out.
This week’s pick is Inbred by Alex Chandon. What this black comedy may lack in originality of concept, it makes up for in gallons of blood and excellent atmosphere. From IMDB: Four young offenders and their workers spend a weekend in the remote Yorkshire village of Mortlake, which prides on keeping itself to itself. A minor incident with locals rapidly escalates into a blood-soaked, deliriously warped nightmare.
You’ve seen films like this probably many times but this ramps up the madness with state of the art gore effects that are both shocking and funny. Think Grand–Guignol with a taste of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. It’s well written and beautifully shot. The acting is way above what you might expect a movie about a inbred bunch of lunatics might attract.
Inbred starts off relatively slow but gallops into a stride for a bloody last act. Stick around and you’ll see some very creative kills.
